The data we use

Primary sources

• Official national and municipal websites

  Programme requirements, amounts, and how to apply are taken from the responsible ministry and each ward's official pages as the authoritative text.

• Tokyo Metropolitan Open Data Catalog

  Used for the locations and contact details of helplines and facilities.

• Children and Families Agency childcare support programme registry

  Used to identify national programmes and match them to municipal ones.

• e-Gov law search

  Referred to when checking statutory text on matters such as child support and parental authority. Not used for assessments.

• Statistics Bureau of Japan, “Family Income and Expenditure Survey”

  Used for the reference spending figures in “Will the money last?”. Never used to assess eligibility for a programme.

What we hold, and what updates automatically

Automatic collection only drafts proposed changes. A person always decides whether to publish them. Not every municipality we hold data for updates automatically.

How we handle the data

• ・Every programme is shown with its source, the date it was checked, and the period it applies to.
• ・We never overwrite a programme's content; we add a new version and switch over. Only the version in force on the reference date is used for assessment.
• ・Data that has merely been fetched automatically is not published. Only what a person has checked is published.
• ・Eligibility and amounts are never decided by generative AI. A rule engine calculates all of it.
• ・Programme text is written in Japanese. Anything shown in another language is a reference translation, and programme and facility names are left in Japanese.
